BLOOMLINE CREATIVEBUILT BY REDDING
A DOCUMENTARY SERIES ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHAPED REDDING, CALIFORNIAGrowing up in Redding meant discovering a deep connection to the place—not only through its rivers, mountains, trails, and open spaces, but through the people and community that made it feel like home.
Twenty years later, returning to Redding brought a new perspective. After years spent developing a practice in documentary photography and long-form storytelling, coming home became an opportunity to look more closely at the people who have shaped the city and contributed to its environmental, economic, and cultural identity.
Built by Redding is an ongoing Bloomline Collective documentary project dedicated to telling those stories.
Through intimate photography and long-form journalism, the series documents the people who have invested their time, creativity, work, and energy into Redding. Artists, business owners, organizers, makers, builders, and longtime residents—people whose contributions, large and small, have helped make the city what it is.
Rather than simply documenting the scenery, Built by Redding goes deeper, showcasing the people behind what makes our city unique and beautiful. More than a collection of stories, the project is intended to become a living historical archive—a record of the people, perspectives, and contributions that define Redding in this moment, preserved for future generations to discover and understand the community that came before them.
The project is, in part, an act of giving back: bringing years of experience in documentary storytelling home and investing that experience in the community that helped shape it.
Because everyone who calls Redding home has been shaped by this place in some way. And some of us were built by Redding, too.
